Learn How to properly use Tanks on combat on StarCraft 2

It's a common terran error to fail (or maybe total fail) at placing their tanks correctly, or arming them on siege mode in completely wrong time as we can see in the video below.

Timming, and position is like everything to make Tanks even more fearsome. One thing that I wanna share is the new AI on Siege Tanks mode. Unlikely BW (Brood War) Tanks no more waste bullets in a dead unit.

I'll explain, if 10 Siege tanks get to the siege mode when there is a bunch of Zealots coming they'll fire at the closest Zealot, but it doesn't take 10 shots to kill one Zealot, so the Tanks AI will calculate how much damage they need to do on the first Zealot to kill him and the remining bullets will target the secondary Zealot, and so on.

That way they will never focus all bullets (like 10 shots) on a blink stalker leaving the rest of the army intact.

You can make good use of this property using queue comand to make the tanks distribute well the damage of focusing certain units not wasting even one shot !

You can see exactly what i'm talking about in those videos below:

Siege Tank attack:

Another great feature of Tanks is how their position can win or crush the game. This happens because Tanks is so expansive and yet pretty good unit that lose so many of then might be your end.

How to Positioning Tanks to maximize their potential?
Well that depends on a zillion of factors like are you in a high ground? you armed you tanks faster then your enemy? my tanks is well spread? Is my enemy doing Immortals?

And YES, everything above counts on how well your tanks can do more damage...
  • Immortals can absorb way too much damage, so facing your enemy with MMM (Marine, Marauder, Medvac) is more efective.
  • High ground implies that you can shoot your enemy from far distance without any harm, that's way tanks are awesome to establish new paths and expansions making pretty dificult to lose owned territory.
  • Arming your tanks at range one second before your enemy does implies that your tanks are going to do heavy damage even before the combat begin. On GSL there's one amazing game of TvT played by oGsLittleBoy vs. MakaPrime.WE that shows how armed tanks can be countered by other terrans players.
  • Spread your tanks to maximise damage on Zealots and Zerglins that can surround tanks pretty fast, so just a single or a couple tank will die by the time, and not all of then at once. EG.IdrA, is a Zerg pro-gamer that knows how to deal with tanks so get to his stream and watch over and over

I hope you all enjoyed !! tnx pal !
